University Planner · Version 2 · Last updated 26 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and University Planner for using the app. They are written to match how the software behaves rather than to describe an ideal, and the figures in them are the figures the software enforces. Using University Planner means agreeing to them. Our Privacy Policy covers what is stored and who else sees it, and forms part of these terms.
The short version. The app is free to use as a planner, and nothing you type leaves your device unless you make an account. The AI features run on credits. A paid plan renews until you cancel; cancelling keeps your access to the end of the period you have already paid for. Credits reset on the 1st of each calendar month and unused credits do not carry over. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app at any time. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
University Planner is a study planner for university students: timetables, assessments, grades, notes, reading lists and spaced-repetition study cards, plus optional AI features that work on material you supply. It is a study tool. It does not provide academic, legal, medical or financial advice, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any university.
You need to be at least 16 years old to make an account. The app works without an account; an account is what adds syncing between your devices and the AI features.
Everything you put into University Planner — your notes, your timetable, your recordings and the summaries made from them — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it and we do not use it to train any model. We store and process it only to run the features you have asked for, as the Privacy Policy describes.
You are responsible for having the right to supply what you supply. The AI features work on text, images and audio that you provide, and some of that material — a lecture recording, a page of a textbook — will have been written or delivered by somebody else. University Planner is for your own private study, and you agree to use it only where your own copying and use of that material is permitted, including by your university's rules and by copyright law. We do not publish, share or redistribute anything you supply.
Essay feedback points at what to work on in a draft you supply, against criteria you supply. If you ask, it can show an example rewrite of one sentence or paragraph it pointed at, beside your own; nothing is put into your work for you. Whether and how you may use AI help on assessed work is set by your university and your unit, and following those rules is your responsibility. So that you can, the app keeps a record on each assessment of the AI help you asked for, which you can copy into a disclosure.
We may suspend or close an account that does any of these. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
The planner itself is free and has no limits. The AI features run on credits. One credit is one minute of recorded lecture, which is the unit everything else is priced against, so a text action costs whatever it costs in lecture-minutes rather than in a currency of its own.
| Plan | AI credits | Resets |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 60 credits | Once only. These are a one-off trial and they do not reset. |
| Study AI | 900 credits | Every calendar month |
| Study AI Max | 3,000 credits | Every calendar month |
Every plan includes the whole planner and syncing across your devices. What a paid plan buys is AI credits, and nothing else is held back from the free plan.
The free 60 credits are a trial rather than a monthly allowance. They are granted once for the life of the account and do not come back at the start of a month.
On a paid plan, your credits reset to the full amount at the start of each calendar month — 00:00 UTC on the 1st — whichever day of the month you subscribed. Subscribing on the 28th gives you that month's full allowance for the rest of the month, and a fresh full allowance on the 1st. The reset is not tied to your billing date.
Each month starts fresh at the full amount, and anything you did not spend is gone. A longer term does not pool either: six months of Study AI Max is 3,000 credits in each of those six months, not 18,000 available at once.
Credits buy AI processing, not a particular result. The AI features are generated by machine and can be incomplete or wrong, so check anything that matters against your own notes and the source material. Where a request fails before any processing happens, nothing is charged. Where processing really did run and the result could not be used, it is charged, and the app tells you so rather than charging quietly.
Paid plans are sold as subscriptions for a term of 1 month, 6 months or 12 months. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each term, at the price then published for that plan, until it is cancelled. Prices are shown before you buy, in your local currency where the store provides one.
A promotion code applies only to the payment it names. On the web you can enter one at checkout. A code for your first payment reduces that payment alone: every renewal after it is charged at the plan's published price. Checkout shows what you are paying today before you confirm. A code cannot be used on a purchase made through Apple or Google.
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the term you have already paid for, and you keep full access until then — cancelling does not cut you off mid-term and does not refund the remainder of the term by itself. After that the account returns to the Free plan, with your planner untouched.
Where a renewal payment fails, the plan stays active while the payment is retried. If it never succeeds, the subscription ends and the account returns to Free.
Where you cancel depends on where you bought:
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Closing your University Planner account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google either, because those subscriptions are held by the store rather than by us — cancel it with the store as well.
Who charges you depends on where you bought the subscription, and it matters because it decides who can refund it.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which gives you guarantees that cannot be excluded — including a remedy where a service is not delivered with due care and skill or does not do what we said it would. Those guarantees carry no time limit and no usage limit of their own, and they apply regardless of anything written below. Everything that follows is what we offer on top of them, never instead of them.
We will refund your first payment in full within 14 days, as long as you have not used more than a small portion of your credits. “In full” is what you actually paid, so a payment reduced by a promotion code is refunded at the reduced amount. Email support@uniplannerapp.com and ask. You do not have to tell us that anything went wrong — this one is for changing your mind.
“A small portion” means no more than 20% of one month's credits — 180 credits on Study AI, or 600 on Study AI Max. We count every credit spent on your account since that first payment, whichever month it falls in. Recording a lecture costs about one credit a minute, so that is room for a couple of long lectures before you decide — which is the point, because deciding the app is not for you is the commonest reason to ask. Past that, the AI work those credits paid for has already been done and has already cost us, so the plan has done the thing you bought it for.
The 14 days runs from the first payment we have ever taken from your account, not from the start of each new subscription.
Renewals are not refunded as a matter of course. You can cancel at any time and keep access until the period you have paid for ends, so a renewal is something you can always stop before it happens. Two things are not that, and we refund them in full: a renewal we charged after you had already cancelled, and a payment taken twice. Those are our mistakes, not renewals you chose.
And ask us anyway when something was wrong with the app — that request is not limited by the 14 days or by how many credits you have spent. We will not unreasonably refuse a refund where something did not work, where you were charged twice, or where you were charged for a renewal you had already cancelled. If we withdraw something central to a paid plan while you are mid-term, that counts too.
Purchases made in the iOS or Android app are refunded by Apple or Google, not by us. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase we did not take payment for. Apple and Google each have their own refund process and their own discretion, and you need to ask them. The 14 days above is ours to give on a payment we took ourselves; it is not a promise about what a store will decide.
A refund returns money, not credits. When a subscription is refunded the plan ends straight away and the account returns to Free. Credits you had already spent stay spent, because the AI processing they paid for has already happened and already cost us. Credits you had not spent are lost with the plan, and they have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.
We may change what a plan costs or what it includes. A price increase never applies to a term you have already paid for; it applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before that renewal so you can cancel if you would rather not continue. If we reduce the credits a plan includes, the same rule applies.
We may add, change or withdraw features. If we withdraw something central to a paid plan and you are mid-term, contact us — that is one of the cases where a refund for the unused part is appropriate.
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens through your account. If you think somebody else has access to it, change your password and tell us.
You can delete your account from inside the app at any time, under Account. Deleting it erases your planner, your AI notes, your usage records and your sign-in from our servers, and clears the copy held on that device. It cannot be undone, and we cannot recover a deleted account. Full instructions are on the delete your account page.
Two things to know before you delete. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought from Apple or Google — cancel that with the store, or it will keep renewing. And deleting your account does not refund the term you have paid for.
We may close an account that breaches section 3, or stop offering the service altogether. If we close a paid account for a reason that is not your breach, we will refund the unused part of the term.
Where you obtained the app from the App Store or bought a subscription inside the iOS app, that purchase is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement — Apple's standard terms for apps — in addition to these terms. You can read it at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where Apple's standard licence and these terms genuinely conflict about an App Store purchase, Apple's terms apply to that purchase.
Three consequences worth stating plainly, because they surprise people:
The equivalent applies to Google Play for the Android app, under Google Play's own terms.
We try to keep University Planner working and your data safe, and the planner is built to keep working offline. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, that every feature will always be available, or that the AI features will produce any particular output.
Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. The app can export your planner from the Backup panel, and it is worth doing before a device change.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost marks, missed deadlines or lost study time. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here limits the Australian Consumer Law guarantees described in section 7.
We may update these terms. The version and date at the top say which version you are reading. Where a change materially affects a paid plan, we will tell you before it takes effect, and continuing to use the app after that means accepting the new version. If you would rather not, cancel before your next renewal.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Australian Capital Territory and the courts of Australia. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
